Mattia's Erasmus+ volunteer placement
Over the past four weeks, we’ve had Mattia, an overseas student, volunteering with us at ACH Bristol to gain some valuable work experience. Mattia currently attends the Superior Institute ‘E.Fermi’ in Italy and has come over the UK to complete his volunteer placement as part of the curriculum to finish his studies.
Mattia was matched to ACH through UK Intern Development who work with overseas students to find them placements in Bristol to improve their English, gain valuable life skills and build up their work experience as part of the EU Erasmus+ programme.
At our offices in Bristol, Mattia has been working alongside Gareth, ACH Apprenticeship Coordinator, to help with many different aspects of the business. As Mattia is studying I.T., the majority of tasks he completed were related to this to build on his skills and knowledge. He has been a great asset to the company, helping with many tasks including;
- Participating at our weekly Job Club to help the local community with job searches, CV writing, interview preparation and more
- Helping at our I.T. Himilo Course, teaching learners how to do basic computer tasks
- Designing apprenticeship training presentations
- Creating health and safety exercises for learners
- Organising our reception area noticeboards
“I enjoyed all of my time with ACH. Gareth is so kind and gave me help all the way through and I really enjoyed working with him” says Mattia.
After spending four weeks with us, we are sad to see Mattia go as he has been a fantastic part of the team. However, he is going back to Italy to complete his final year of school. Once he has finished his studies there, he wants to go either to University or start a career in I.T. We wish him the best of luck!
“I want to thank ACH so much for giving me this opportunity to work in your company” – Mattia.
