A podcast telling the stories of migrants and refugees through their own words has been launched.

The five-part series, named 'Wisdom from the Global Majority', was made in collaboration between University of the West of England students and social enterprise ACH.

ACH’s marketing and communications officer Sena Vicdan said: “We are incredibly excited to launch our new podcast series, which provides a platform for individuals from refugee and migrant backgrounds to share their powerful stories.

Today is World Refugee Day, a United Nations designated day celebrating the strength, courage and resilience of those who have had to flee their home countries to escape conflict or persecution. ACH, the Bristol-founded provider for refugee and migrant integration services, is bringing to life the values of the international day with its one-of-a-kind event this autumn, aptly named The Welcome Party. Tickets available for the unique event, which will feature on-stage interview with Olympic gold medallist and Somaliland refugee, Sir Mo Farah, on Thursday 7th November.

The theme of this year’s annual day to mark the cause is solidarity with refugees, inviting people to show their support by giving to, advocating for and learning about refugees, in order to make the world a more welcoming place for all. 

ACH, the Bristol-founded provider for refugee and migrant integration services, is hosting a very special event at The Mount Without in central Bristol this autumn.

Titled The Welcome Party, the event invites businesses from across South West England to hear, see and literally taste the positive impact that refugees, people seeking asylum and vulnerable migrants have on Bristol, as well as the UK more widely. 

Bristol-founded provider for refugee and migrant integration services, ACH, are hosting an event to celebrate refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Bristol’s diverse workforce.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and start from £140 per individual seat.

Businesses are encouraged to buy a table for the event, in the hopes of developing businesses’ understanding and appreciation of what migrants and refugees bring to the UK workforce.

Our successful business client Ali, whose business name is Rocket Man, was featured on the BBC programme "Andi Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts." He provided fresh vegetables from his garden for the feast. According to Andi, he was "the superstar"!

A unique partnership bringing together public and private investment with a leading social enterprise will create new permanent high-quality housing for Ukrainian refugees in Bristol and pave the way for future local affordable housing schemes.

The innovative deal has been led by Ashley Community & Housing, a Bristol-based refugee housing and integration organisation, which has chosen South West place-based impact investor Bristol & Bath Regional Capital as its investment partner.

After fleeing war in his home country of Syria, the farmer sought refuge in Bristol in 2017 and soon found ways to put his skills to use. There, with the support of refugee support organisation ACH, he has forged a successful business under the name Rocketman and Crowdfunded more than £6,000 to buy a polytunnel, enabling him to grow more produce year-round.

He is appealing for help to find a new piece of land, of approximately 5,000 metres, in the city, or on the outskirts with good transport links, to ensure his business can survive and thrive.

Khrystyna Demchenko, 35, based in Bristol, received the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) Academic Excellence Award at an event on 22 November.

Ms Demchenko came to Britain on the Homes for Ukraine scheme after leaving her home in Kyiv. 

She said: "The right to translation should be one of the most important human rights."
