Men, Gender and Displacement
On the 19th September 2018 we will be showcasing the findings from the collaborative research project between ACH and the University of Bristol about displaced men in Bristol and their journeys. The event will take place at the Wills Memorial Building from 4pm to 6pm.
The research started in August 2017 and has been an on-going piece of work since then. ACH have contributed to the research by engaging several male tenants and learners to become participants and talk about their displacement experiences. The research took place over several days out with the participants which included travelling to the Folly Farm Centre and visiting the Arnolfini to see the Grayson Perry exhibition.
We explored with participants what it is to be a man here in the UK; whether sense of self changed due to displacement and whether family dynamics are impacted on in the process. The event in September will reveal the conclusions from the research and allow the audience to put forward any questions.
