ACH recognised for diversity

We pride ourselves on the diversity of staff members at all levels within Ashley Community Housing.

A number of our staff are first or second-generation refugees themselves, services are provided in multiple languages, and we ensure we create services and training that appreciates the cultural inheritances that beneficiaries bring with them. This diversity has helped us to flourish, and we are now working to educate businesses on the beneficial effects of diversity

We are excited that this work has been recognised, and to have been shortlisted for two awards in the inaugural 24housing Diversity in Housing Awards; Leading BME organisation and the Communications Award.

Leading BME organisation

This award is for the housing organisation that has made great strides in ensuring either their BME staff or residents feel included. It could also include work in the community and wider social impact.

Our nomination reflects the diversity of our staff and the cultural sensitivity of our services to our refugee tenants, and our plans to work with 25,000 more individuals from local BME communities over the next 10 years, not simply helping them into entry-level jobs, but aiming for progression to median-salary positions.

Communications Award

This award is for the organisation which has pushed diversity best practice around not only their own organisation but the wider sector.

Our nomination is for our #rethinkingrefugee campaign, and commitment to ensuring refugees become part of society rather than remaining marginalised and under-employed, enabling employers to enhance the diversity and skills of their business and refugees to access quality jobs.

The awards take place on Thursday 10th May, and we’ve got our fingers crossed!
