Fuad Mahamed, ACH CEO, had the highly prestigious honour of winning the Leadership Award at the NatWest SE100 Social Business Awards. ACH were also shortlisted for the Storytelling and Resilience award.

As part of our new video series, Meet the team leaders, we are interviewing our staff so you can get to know them better! This month we talked with Saed, our housing manager, who has been with ACH officially since 2014.

ACH have been delivering training in Hargeisa, Somaliland, to promote and teach about innovation and entrepreneurship within local communities in Baidoa, Somalia. The week-long training course was a success with participants learning knowledge to create a Growth Hub.

Our recent project with Bristol Refugee Rights, funded by Quartet Community Foundation, was to give asylum seekers an inside view of the Bristol labour market. This project linked closely to the current #LiftTheBan campaign which is urging the Government to allow asylum seekers the right to work in the UK. Throughout the programme, these asylum seekers have consistently shown willingness and passion for being able to work and contribute back to society, and most of all, get their lives back on track.

We are on the hunt for a new pool of volunteers to help with our weekly Job Club sessions and give back to the local community.

Himilo is excited to be participating in a live Apprenticeship Q&A on Wed 6th March, part of Bristol’s activity for National Apprenticeship Week (4-8 March).
